Midway

Midway was one of the first settled communities in Liberty County.The coastal waterways made it an ideal hub for shipping and transportation.The city is full of historical relevance;it's home to the Midway Congregational Church,which was established in 1752,and Fort Morris (now a state park),which was established in 1776 to protect the growing seaport.Those interested in learning more about the city can visit the Midway Museum and Cemetery or the Dorchester Academy Museum.Dorchester Academy was establsihed in 1870 as on of the earliest educational Institutions for freed African Americans in Georgial.Later it was used as a training ground for civil right efforts.However ,you don't have to be a history buff to enjoy Midway.Midway is fun,quiet and a nice place to live.One of the area's longtime hotspots is Holton Seafood Restaurant on East Oglethorpe Highway.
